RSS Facility
RSS Facility is a like helping hand to bloggers and esp: blurkers like me, yesterday I downloaded a RSS Reader Blue Pulse in my mobile though having not much faciltites but atleast compatible of GPRS I was very glad to have it.
As soon as I signed up, I added my own blog RSS feed into it check it fully, and I found it good but it shows the 7-8 feeds with no image, but its enough, isnt it?
Well, after checking process I started to add all blogger users, which I remembered at that time!! It includes Amiething Goes, Kawab, Light Within, AsianSmiles. But AsiaSmiles wasnt opening but now i got to know that the address was'nt right.

India bounced back
India has bounced back beautifully to level the series, what a come back through after the solid 105 runs openeing partnership between Sehwag and Tendulkar.
Winning captain Rahul Dravid gets the Hutch winning bonus award. Rahul says: "Very professional job today, right from the beginning". Dravid is really happy about the fielding effort by the Indians in the recent matches.
Inzamam-ul-Haq feels that it is not a good day for the Pakistan but gives the complete credit to India for today's win. He feels that 4 run-outs in the innings was one of the factor restricting the total to 265.

Leading the series with 1-0.

The one-rupee school

OVER the years, many readers have accused me of highlighting only the country’s negative aspects, and not writing more ‘positively’.
Frankly, I have never seen this as being a columnist’s primary role. After all, the government deploys vast resources into burnishing its image, and certainly does not need me to blow its trumpet. But while I seldom have much to say in favour of official policies, I have, from time to time, discussed individual initiatives that I think deserve public recognition because of their impact on ordinary lives. This piece is intended to give credit to one such individual and one such initiative.
Surjani Town is a vast, barren new development on the sprawling outskirts of Karachi along the Super Highway to Hyderabad. Around 30 miles from the city centre is a small, low-cost township called ‘Khuda ki Basti’, the brainchild of the famous development expert Tasneem Siddiqui. In a small, unassuming building here is the Amal-e-Danish, a school earlier called the ‘One Rupee School’.
First established at a nearby location a decade ago, the school now has around 700 children studying in different classes. Even 10 years ago, a rupee per student didn’t go very far in meeting running costs. Now, many beggars refuse to take this tiny amount. But that’s how much Parveen Rao, the driving spirit behind the project, collects from each student per month.
Clearly, to take on such a venture, a person has to be possessed, and Ms Rao is no exception. For years now, she has been making the long commute in her rattle-trap of a car. In the beginning, she had to go personally to the nearby goths or villages to convince parents to send their children to her school. The parents of little girls were hesitant to start with, but over time, she broke down their resistance. One reason for her success has been that she mostly hires her teachers locally.
But it’s a constant struggle: with running costs of around 150,000 rupees per month, she is running around every month to make sure that salaries and utility bills are paid on time. Fortunately for her, a local philanthropist underwrites the ‘One Rupee School’ to the extent of Rs 50,000 per month. He has also paid for the construction of the school building. But Ms Rao usually has to dip into the family earnings and her own small business to meet costs. The reality of this precarious financial arrangement is reflected in the lack of furniture and teaching aids.
So why did she get involved in education in the first place? Ms Rao says that when she was young, her parents prevented her from going to high school. When she was older, she put herself through college and university, writing many articles on literature in the process. Her writings have been collected in the form a book. But when she was struggling to get an education, she vowed to help others in her predicament.
Initially, her school was located in a small rented house in Ayesha Nagar in Surjani Town. But when Khuda-ki-Basti was launched, she was able to convince Mr Tasneem Siddiqui to let her have a plot of land at subsidized rates.
Although a madressah has opened in the neighbourhood, for most children her school is the only chance for an education. As I entered the modest building, I heard the sound of many young boys and girls learning their lessons aloud. I was next struck by the cleanliness of the place.
Entering classrooms with Ms Rao, we were greeted with a chorus of “Good morning, madam!” as the pupils sprang to their feet. The blackboards were covered with drawings of different fruits with their names in English. I privately wondered how many of the fruit these kids had actually seen. In some classrooms, volunteers piped up with poem recitals.
In one nursery class, I noticed a 10-year old boy sitting with children half his age. On enquiring the reason, I was told that as a matter of policy, the school does not refuse admission because a child is not equipped to fit into a class of his or her own age-group. “For most of the children here,” Ms Rao explains. “This is the only school available. So we can’t penalize them if their parents did not enrol them any sooner.”
When the killer earthquake struck last October, Ms Rao flew to Islamabad and travelled to Muzaffarabad to assess the needs of the children there. She now has one school in the latter for 60 pupils, and one in a refugee camp on the outskirts of the capital for 90. I asked her why she had taken on this additional responsibility when she had enough headaches with her Karachi school. She replied simply: “Because the children needed schooling.”
Although she has a headmistress running the ‘One-Rupee School’, she has to do much of the work, from fund-raising to getting question papers photocopied. As there is no telephone at the school, her physical presence there is necessary for much of the week, taking her away from her own work. And the hour-long commute each way in heavy traffic needs all her concentration; her dream is to be able to hire a driver.
In most of the classrooms, the children sit on mats placed on the floor. The books in the bare library are stacked on tables as there are no book racks. Most of the illustrations in the rooms are drawings of cartoon characters done by students. An electricity connection is awaiting funds for a transformer.
Despite these and many other drawbacks, Parveen Rao is upbeat and serenely confident that she will be able to continue running her school. She sees this as a debt to society. For her, the children at her school deserve a chance. And although the facilities and the education are fairly basic, the only option these kids have is to go to the religious seminary that has begun operating in the area.
As we were driving back to town, I made a modest contribution to the school. Cheerfully, she accepted it, saying it would pay for the photocopying.

Pakistan Cricket Board plans to launch TV channel
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is toying with the idea of launching a television channel. The board has hired ex-PTV hand Ather Waqar Azim to carry out its feasibility report on the plan.
According to a report appeared in the Pakistani daily The Nation, the need for the PCB to have its own channel was felt after the state run PTV (Pakistan Television) informed the organisation that it would not be able to telecast domestic cricket as there was no commercial interest in it.
According to the report, PCB's channel will also telecast other sporting events.

'Man of the Match' was Kamran Akmal, his knock indeed was the turning point of the match, his innings came in when Pakistan was in a very bad shape!
Inzamam was all praise for his team that played stupendously well without him, he went onto say that his back is much better and he is very much in chance of playing in the One dayers!
Rahul Dravid gave due credit to Pakistan for this commendable performance and he admits that his team's batting let them down badly. He said that he is loking forward for the One-dayers!

Canadian pop singer Bryan Adams is to perform at a fundraising concert for quake victims this month in Karachi, becoming the first Western pop star to play in Pakistan since the start of the "war on terror," organisers have announced.
"We want to show to the world that Pakistan is a friendly country and its people love music and Karachi is no more a troubled city," Iqbal said.

The co-host of programme is Zindgi (life) Trust, a charity organisation run by top Pakistani singer Shahzad Roy.

Adams, who is also popular among the educated Pakistani youth, had planned to visit Pakistan before the September 11 attacks but cancelled the trip after the attacks.

Please comment on the first one-day-match at Qadafi stadium, Lahore. Why did we not perform to our optimum potential and lose the match?
“Thanks to Allah we loses match and England play well. Qadafi no more ex (axis) of evil. Only one Muslim country in ex evil top ranking at one time. Before Libya, after that Iraq and now Iran. Dick Checheneya and George bin Bush likes Libya but not Rums and field. Muslim drink no rums in field. Thanks to Allah we lose play not for rums drinking”.
Do you think the reason of us not catching up with their score was foggy and misty conditions that you had to face in the latter part of the day?
“Thanks to Allah our boys not see ball in fog and we not score like England (pause) England play good”.
Your comments on the England side.
“They is good side but only one Muslim. He shave and no beard. I think may be not from Bardford Shareef”.
Why did you not play in the final match?
“ I sit eitkaf in the dressing room ”.
The President was gracious to invite both the teams for tea. What did he talk to you about that evening?
“Lot of good foods (loud burp) Shukar Alhamdolillah.Yea, President talk me cricket and future play of the Q league. I say more matches in Q league make good batsman and bowler. A good full time faizotherpic for me need, also a permanent runner and a fielder. He say Sheikh Rashid and I say only in Pindi”.
Do you think a non-partisan like Woolmer can solve the problems of infighting within the Q league?

The President cancelled an important appointment with his tailor to attend the fourth and crucial match. That demonstrates not only his interest in sports in general but also how keenly he follows the game of cricket in particular. You must have been pleased to see him watch the game.
“Thanks to Allah he give money to boys. No other general need to bounce into cricket. They good in business and may be something else”.
What did he whisper to you at the award ceremony?
“He aankh maro and say, money give boys from the earthquake fund England give. He the England rob and rule us double century. Now we even score”.
Both the cricket teams have generously donated money to the cause of rehabilitation of the victims of the earthquake. That is a noble gesture.
“Thanks to Allah people die in earthquake. We meet earthquake people. I sorry many legbreaks (sigh)”.
It must have been a gut-wrenching experience to see the seriously injured, the traumatized and the maimed young kids.
“Thanks to Allah little childs hurt badly. Yea, our top-order Muslim do sin in sixes and fours making fastest centuries in every game. God angry and googly to bowl out old Kashmiri man, poor woman and childs for our bad play”.
The president has astutely offered to soften the LOC to facilitate the families parted for two generations, and to bring about peace in the region. Do you support the President on this issue?
“Yea, me and boys sportsman. Cricket good sport. President Mohammad Pervez Musharraf like sport. Thanks to Allah all Pakistani man, woman and babies like sport”.
We have Indian team visiting us soon after Christmas. We commonly perceive the cricket ground as a battlefield between the two warring nations. Does that fact put you under more pressure to win than when you play against teams from other countries?
“Thanks to Allah India enemy country. Mashaalalh we lose all other places but not cricket”.
It is a game we play and not fight a war to fly the green flag on Lal Qilla. Surely, playing and watching sports is just for entertainment and different from what happens on the front line, on the negotiation tables and International forums.
“Cricket good sport. I no likes war. Boys is no likes war, we friend in cricket all peoples”.
I found this article on Chowk, it is written after a good observation but it is a time to split Indian team as much we can though Inzamam is not so fluent in answering the questions asked from him in English Language.

I am now back yeh again actually as soon as my exams ends I with my cousins decided to go Karachi, for some out there plus some shopping after a long burden of hectic work but you know what happened I got a high fever with some alergy also on my skin, making me and feeling lathargic, it looks like some kindog measles they are non-itching but irritating as It looks very bad in mirror, they are still resting on my skin but as soon as I felt some energy inside I decided to post this and wishing you Happy New Year as lately I was unable to do so fomr my bed.
